Advanced Training of Trainers (TOT)

Picture this: Four days focused on learning how to support others in doing some of the most nuanced and emotionally complex restorative work inside a school or organization.

This retreat-style Training of Trainers experience is designed to help participants confidently train, coach, and support others in facilitating restorative response processes including impromptu conversations, restorative chats (“little r”), restorative circles, and Formal Restorative Conferencing (“Big R”).

Participants will engage directly with the AHCC Advanced Restorative Practices Training materials while strengthening their ability to:

• Facilitate meaningful and engaging learning experiences around responsive restorative practices
• Model and coach others through restorative response processes including pre-conferences, restorative chats, restorative circles, and Formal Restorative Conferencing
• Support others in strengthening decision-making around when, how, and whether restorative processes should occur
• Help others navigate emotionally complex situations connected to conflict, harm, accountability, and repair
• Guide others in understanding the critical features of effective responsive restorative practices
• Support schools and organizations in navigating the systems and mindset shifts required to move from retributive approaches toward more restorative responses to conflict and harm

Through large-group learning, modeling, reflection, practice, coaching, feedback, and community connection, participants will strengthen both their confidence and capacity to help others do this work well.

Participants will leave with:

• The content, facilitation strategies, and coaching support necessary to confidently deliver the AHCC Advanced Restorative Practices Training within their own school, district, camp, or organization
• Increased confidence in supporting others through restorative response processes including pre-conferences, restorative chats, restorative circles, and Formal Restorative Conferencing
• Deeper understanding of how to coach others through the nuance, complexity, and emotional intensity that can arise during restorative response work
• Tools and strategies for helping leaders and teams strengthen restorative decision-making, systems alignment, and implementation consistency
• Access to the AHCC Advanced Restorative Practices training materials and resources designed to support ongoing implementation, coaching, and internal training efforts
• Opportunities to continue learning alongside other trainers and restorative leaders navigating this work in real-world settings
• Continued support from the AHCC Team through Community of Practice Booster Sessions designed to strengthen implementation, troubleshoot challenges, and support ongoing growth

And while this work is deep, meaningful, and at times emotionally complex, this retreat experience will also create space for authentic connection, reflection, laughter, vulnerability, and community alongside others committed to doing this work well.

This retreat may be a great fit for you if:

• You have completed the AHCC Advanced Restorative Practices Training Series
• You have been identified by your school, district, or organization as someone who can help train, coach, and support responsive restorative practices internally
• You are actively involved in restorative response work and want to deepen your ability to guide others through that work with confidence, care, and sound judgment
• You understand that responsive restorative work is nuanced, emotionally complex, and deeply connected to systems, leadership, and organizational culture
• You are willing to engage in honest reflection, meaningful practice, feedback, and continued growth alongside others committed to this work
• You believe restorative work is about more than isolated practices. It’s about creating systems and communities that respond to conflict and harm in more human, accountable, and sustainable ways

While individuals are welcome to attend, this experience is often most impactful when organizations send teams who can learn, reflect, problem-solve, and build implementation alignment together.

The 4-day Winter Intensive includes not only the retreat experience itself, but also two additional Advanced TOT Community of Practice sessions with the AHCC Team.

These sessions are designed to:

• Create safe/brave spaces for continued practice, reflection, and growth as participants begin training and coaching others in responsive restorative practices
• Provide ongoing support around implementation, facilitation, coaching, systems considerations, and restorative decision-making
• Help participants navigate real-world challenges, questions, and emotionally complex situations that arise while supporting restorative response work within their own organizations
• Strengthen participants’ confidence in modeling, coaching, and facilitating restorative response processes with fidelity, care, and sound judgment
• Create opportunities for participants to learn from one another’s experiences, successes, and implementation challenges
• Extend learning through additional content, guided reflection, troubleshooting, and continued support from the AHCC Team

Because this work is nuanced and deeply human, we believe continued connection and support matter. These sessions are designed to help participants continue growing alongside others committed to doing this work well.

Professional Development credit hours (CEUs & CPDUs) will be offered for all 4 days of training. There is a small fee associated with receiving CEUs. Ethics and Cultural Competency Credits available.
